Indian Summer Festival

Coinciding with the 2019 Boxing Day Test, Cricket Australia and the Victorian State Government organised the 3 day Indian Summer Festival. Working with festival organisers, we had six artists (Phibs, Danny Awes, Heesco, Ling, Itch and Sabeth) create six unique Indian-inspired murals on shipping containers scattered throughout the festival grounds outside the MCG.

Our brief was to create a connection between Indian culture and Melbourne through art. Delhi, like Melbourne has a growing street art scene that is an innate part of the city’s culture. We were lucky enough to be joined by two street artists from Delhi who created two additional murals.

The guys all worked brilliantly to the brief. We were super happy with the way they designed and produced the artwork. Their artworks made the festival landscape come alive.

The outcome was a spectacular backdrop to an awesome festival. The colours in the works were vibrant and playful – much like the art you’d see on the streets of Delhi. Each of the pieces featured what the artist found most interesting about Indian culture.
