Nope! This course is perfect for total beginners as well as anyone who’s tried spray painting but wants to really improve. We teach you everything — from holding the can properly to painting a full mural. Module 1 starts with the absolute basics: how to hold a spray can, control pressure, and create your first lines. Dan's taught hundreds of people with zero art background.
Yes! If you’ve done drawing, painting, or digital art but want to translate your skills to walls, this course shows you exactly how to do that. You’ll learn how to spray paint, design and scale an artwork, paint a mural, and a whole bunch of street art techniques that most traditional art classes don’t cover.
There are 25 lessons across four modules. You can take it completely at your own pace — some people dive in and finish in a few weeks, others spread it out over months. We recommend practicing as you go to really build your skills.
You get lifetime access to all lessons and downloadable resources, plus access to any future updates we add to the course.
Anyone aged 13+ can do this course, but if you’re under 18 we recommend checking with your parent/guardian first. Spray paint can be difficult to use. Cans are quite big for small hands and require a bit of hand strength to use. You will need access to materials and a safe practice area - that’s why we recommend you do it under supervision.
We teach you the techniques to create incredible street art — where and how you use your skills is up to you. We do not condone or encourage illegal activity. For those keen to find legal practice walls or commission opportunities, we include a guide to Finding and Securing Good Walls to Paint as a bonus for the first 100 sign-ups.
You’ll need basic spray painting supplies, which we outline in each module. You’ll also get our Global Spray Paint Supplier Listing to help you find materials locally, plus materials checklists in every module. While we recommend buying all the kit we outline in each Module, you can get started with just a few cans and a surface to work on - a piece of board or a canvas. This shouldn’t set you back more than AU$50.
To paint with spray paint you need about two square meters of space and good ventilation. You can pop some protective plastic on a wall and lean your practice canvas or board up against it - this will save some space. Better still, a wall to practice directly on to is your best option. Something that you can paint back to the original colour after you’ve mastered your craft would be perfect (or paint a mural on it - even better).
Definitely. The course equips you with the same practical skills we use for designing and painting commercial murals. Whether you get good enough to charge for your work depends on how much you practice these skills. While we don’t cover business strategies in this course, we do show you how to create high-quality work — the first step to paid gigs. Make sure you are part of our mailing list to stay in the loop about future courses. We may just run a course on the business side of things at some point.
Yes! You can join our VIP option, which includes four 45 minute sessions of private coaching with Dan plus monthly live Q&A sessions.
