If you’re heading to Portland, Oregon, bring your walking shoes—and your appetite for art and food.
This city is an open-air gallery. From massive murals to tagged train cars and sticker-covered street signs, Portland’s street art scene is fresh and everywhere. Whether you're a mural-hunting tourist or a graffiti-loving local, here’s where to look (and eat) while you explore:
Start here for a colorful mix of community-driven murals and creative storefronts. Grab a bite from a nearby food truck pod - Whole Bowl or Koi Fusion are local favourites.
This gritty, industrial stretch of Portland is packed with graffiti-covered walls and hidden gems often tucked into alleyways or train line corridors. Hawthorne Asylum, a buzzing food cart pod surrounded by bold graffiti and street installations, is a highlight—grab lunch here and snap a few shots while you’re at it.
Just down the road, Cartopia serves up some of Portland’s best late-night eats (we recommend trying the burritos and amazing selection of crafty brews). Both spots deliver on bold flavours and street art vibes.
And don’t miss the freight trains—over 30 carriages long—rolling through with ever-changing artwork.
Expect bold murals, paste-ups, and plenty of sticker art transforming poles, bins, and shopfronts. It’s also home to Prost Marketplace, a must-stop for craft beers and food carts under fairy lights.
This interactive art experience takes things next level. We tagged their AR graffiti wall ourselves (digitally, of course)—and it's seriously fun. It's more gallery than alley, but if you're into art, don’t skip it.
Look down, look up, look everywhere. Utility boxes, lampposts, and train carriages serve as ever-changing canvases. If you're into sticker slaps and layered tags, Portland’s got it in spades.
We recommend checking out the Portland Street Art Alliance—they’re the go-to source for maps, artist info, and mural tours. And be sure to subscribe to our monthly email for more guides and inspiration.
