We were proud to collaborate with the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC) to transform their car park with vibrant murals. This community mural project aimed to brighten the space for staff, volunteers, and visitors, while also helping combat unwanted graffiti. Our mural artists worked for free, with paint sponsored by Loop, supporting the ASRC in their vital work providing food, healthcare, employment services, and advocacy for refugees.
The murals were created by professional mural artists Danny Awes, working alongside Jimmy Dvate and Duke. With paint generously supplied by Loop Colors Australia, the team used high-quality paints and protective coatings to ensure the murals’ longevity.
Instead of simply removing tags and vandalism, this project demonstrates how the right kind of street art murals can provide a long-lasting solution to unwanted graffiti. Adding high quality graffiti from renowned Melbourne artists, we not only brightened the car park but also reduced the likelihood of future tagging. It's inspiring bringing street artists together to collaborate on projects - and we love giving back to organisations who make a difference. When communities feel pride and ownership over the spaces they use, the artwork tends to get respected and enjoyed by everyone.
A huge thank you to Loop Colours for providing the paint and to Nicole Reed for capturing such beautiful images of the murals. You can support the ASRC’s important work by donating here or following their news to see how they continue to help refugees and asylum seekers every day.
