Dandenong Market

Dandenong Market is a pretty special place. It’s a cultural melting pot of delicious foods, exotic delicacies and family businesses flogging their wears or fresh produce. Dan was humbled when he was approached by the awesome team at the market and commissioned to create an artwork that would resonate with their community. He chose “Family” as the theme and subject of this artwork. A family of Superb Fairy Wrens, made up of six family members, each vastly different but connected by blood, having to share their lives closely which can sometimes pose challenges. The notion of family is universal both in the animal world and human world. In this artwork, Dan wanted to portray a typical working class family that could resonate with anyone who sees it. A family with everyday problems or idiosyncrasies, and members with contrasting and sometimes complimentary personalities. Arguing or rebellious kids, a bit of a nerd, parents trying to hold everything together and the family home – full of the domestic chaos that exists for most of us.

It was so lovely to work with 90 Degrees. Everyone we have spoken to just loves the new addition to our street art collection and we have had some great comments on social media. We cannot wait to work with 90 Degrees again.
