WE ARE 90 DEGREES

One artist - Dan. One project manager - Helainie. Together we create murals that make spaces better. We think our work speaks for itself. It's what we're known for. It's what we love doing. We've been in business since 2012. And Dan's been painting his whole life.

Some things you may be wondering.

Do you protect new murals against graffiti?

Yes. Anti-graffiti coatings are specified and applied on most outdoor and public-facing commissions. The coating allows tags and unwanted paint to be cleaned off without damaging the artwork underneath. We recommend the right system based on the wall, the location and the risk profile.

Can you protect a mural that's already been painted?

Yes. Protective coatings can be applied retrospectively to murals we've painted previously. We assess the surface, the paint system underneath and the conditions the mural is exposed to before applying the right coating.

Can you remove graffiti from one of your murals?

We can but it's more cost effective for you to do it. We an advise on best process based on the clear coat applied. in the unlikely event that you damage the artwork while cleaning, we can touch up or repaint the affected sections to colour-match the original.

Is clear coating always the best protection for an outdoor mural?

Not always. On exterior walls in areas with a history of tagging, a clear anti-graffiti coating isn't always the strongest deterrent. Sometimes the better solution is to have a well-respected graffiti writer paint a piece. This earns respect within the local culture and is far more likely to be left alone than a clean commercial mural. It's a judgement call that depends on the wall, the location and the audience. Dan's background in graffiti means we read these situations accurately and recommend the right approach, not just the obvious one. Talk to us before you commission a mural on a wall that has been vandalised in the past.

What does ongoing mural maintenance involve?

Scheduled inspections, touch-ups for minor wear and tear, re-coating of protective layers as they age, and response to graffiti or vandalism when it happens. We tailor a maintenance schedule to suit the venue and the level of foot traffic.

Do you offer maintenance contracts for commercial properties?

Yes. For councils, hospitality groups, retail chains, hotels and corporate properties with multiple murals or high foot traffic, we offer scheduled maintenance arrangements for our murals. Quoted per site based on size, location and frequency.

Can you maintain a mural anywhere in Australia?

We're Melbourne-based and service Melbourne and Sydney as standard. For maintenance work further afield, we travel for the right project and can also coordinate with trusted local contractors when ongoing local response is needed.

How much does mural maintenance and protection cost?

Protective coatings on a new exterior mural are quoted as part of the original cost. Standalone maintenance work is quoted per project after a site assessment. We provide a fixed quote upfront before any work begins.

How long does a commissioned mural last?

The spray paint we use lasts about the same amount of time as good quality exterior house paint. Clear coating artworks gives them greater longevity.
