WE ARE 90 DEGREES

One artist - Dan. One project manager - Helainie. Together we create murals that make spaces better. We think our work speaks for itself. It's what we're known for. It's what we love doing. We've been in business since 2012. And Dan's been painting his whole life.

Some things you may be wondering.

What's the difference between a printed mural and a hand-painted mural?

A hand-painted mural is painted directly to a wall by an artist using paint and various application methods. A printed mural is an artwork that is designed by an artist, supplied to a large-format print company as a digital file, printed onto wallpaper, vinyl or another large-format substrate, then installed on the wall. Hand-painted has more 3D texture than a printed artwork.

When should I choose a printed mural over a hand-painted one?

Printed artworks can be a good choice when the surface can't be painted directly (eg. glass or fire-rated surfaces), when the same artwork needs to be rolled out across multiple locations, when there are time or access limitations within a fit-out programme, when paying for artist travel makes the cost prohibitive or when you want an easily removable or replaceable application (eg. removable vinyl).

How do I get a digital mural printed and installed?

Once your mural artwork design is finalised, Dan will supply you with a print-ready file. You can either take this file to a printer or signage company to print and install, or Dan can liaise directly with the printer for you. Any local large-format printer or signage company will be able to assist you with the printing and they should either have an in-house installer or be able to recommend one to you.

What file format do digital mural files come in and how are they delivered?

High-resolution print-ready files as specified by your printer. Files are scaled to the wall, with bleed and panel marks where needed. Files are delivered via secure file transfer. We work to your printer's specs so there is no delay in getting printing underway once handed over to your printer.

Can I use the same printed mural design across multiple sites or locations?

Yes. This is one of the best reasons to choose a printed mural. Once an artwork is designed, it can be reprinted for different sites. Where wall sizes differ, the artwork can be altered to suit each wall shape.

What materials can a digital mural file be printed onto?

Most printable vinyl, wallpaper, fabric, acoustic panels and various rigid substrates. The right material should be chosen by you in consultation with your printer or signage contractor based on the wall, the environment and the desired finish. We design the artwork to suit whichever material has been selected and any requirements or limitations that dictates.

What surfaces can a printed mural be applied to?

Smooth painted walls, plasterboard, glass, fire-rated surfaces, timber panels, concrete, acoustic panels and most flat or curved interior surfaces. Different printed materials suit different surfaces, so the surface will dictate the substrate. Your installer will advise on what works best for your specific site.

How can I make sure my printed mural is not replicated for anyone else?

Every printed mural we design is original to your project and built to your brief. We don't sell stock designs or licensed library artwork, and your artwork won't be reused for anyone else. Commercial usage rights and exclusivity are based on the scope outlined in our quotes and built into every project agreement, so you know exactly what you're licensed to use and where. We will never replicate the exact same design for another client.

Why commission a printed mural design when I could generate one with AI?

AI tools are useful for early concept exploration and quick reference visuals. We sometimes use them ourselves for that. What they don't deliver is a finished artwork that's original to your space, owned by you, with clear commercial usage rights and no risk of the same generic style appearing (or already in existence) on someone else's wall. Printed mural design from a working artist gives you something specific to your brief, your brand and your site. The artwork is built with print in mind from the start, so the file works at scale across any substrate. Revisions are considered and intentional rather than another roll of the dice. And the design is genuinely yours, not a variation of a prompt thousands of other people are typing into the same system.

How do I find the right artist to design a printed mural?

Look for someone who is equally skilled at graphic design and digital illustration as they are at painting murals at scale. Artwork has very different impact on a screen than it does at three metres tall on a wall, and only an artist who has spent years painting commissioned murals understands how a design needs to be composed, weighted and detailed to actually work in a space. A graphic designer with no mural experience will design for the screen. A muralist with no graphic design background will struggle to deliver a print-ready file that meets a printer's specs. Dan has both. A Bachelor of Communication Design with Honours, a qualification in fine art mediums, and over 14 years painting commissioned murals across Australia for clients including Hilton, Adidas, LinkedIn and Deloitte. That's the right combination of skills for this kind of work.

How much does a printed mural design cost?

Design is quoted per project based on artwork complexity, scale and licensing. Printing and installation are quoted separately by your supplier. We provide a fixed quote upfront for the design component before any work begins. We base costs on a time allocation at Dan's set current day rate. Costs from our end include time for brief development, design, file set-up for print and liaising with printers.

Can I commission a printed mural from anywhere in the world?

Yes. Design is delivered digitally, so location isn't a factor. Once the print-ready file is supplied, any local printer or signage company can handle production and installation in your region.
